This app is designed for use in Palm Beach County.
CombatCOVID is the official COVID-19 notification and information application of the Palm Beach County Government, serving a diverse community of over one and a half million individuals.
Unlike many other applications, CombatCOVID does not rely on GPS or location notifications within its infrastructure. The privacy and anonymity of app users are paramount, with no personal details such as names, email addresses, locations, or other identifying information being requested. CombatCOVID never collects any location or identity information.
The CombatCOVID app utilizes Bluetooth signals to ascertain proximity to other users. Individuals who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 receive a push notification advising them to get tested immediately, while safeguarding everyone's personal information. The app also provides suggestions for testing locations.
All data is encrypted, including the device's phone number, and is never disclosed to third parties, including local health authorities. Information regarding proximity to another device is solely stored on the user's device.
Access to data indicating a potential COVID-19 positive result is shared only if the user explicitly chooses to do so. Even in such cases, the user's privacy remains fully protected.
